1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of lifeindexdata.com and any subsites, APIs, feeds or services provided by LifeIndex (collectively, the "Site"). The Site is operated from the United States. By accessing the Site you represent you are at least 16 years old (13+ with parental consent where COPPA applies) and have legal capacity to contract under U.S. law. If you access on behalf of an organization, you bind that organization.

2. License & Use of Content

• Personal license: We grant a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to view, share via link, and print pages for personal, non-commercial use.
• Attribution: When quoting data, credit "LifeIndex.com — Sources: U.S. Census Bureau, BLS, HUD, FRED, EIA" with a link to the source page.
• Prohibited: Systematic scraping (beyond fair use), bulk downloading to rebuild a competing database, overloading servers, bypassing paywalls/rate limits, framing, or misrepresenting data as official government publication.
• Cached government data is public domain (U.S. works); our presentation, calculations, design and text are protected.

3. User Conduct

You agree not to:

• Violate U.S. federal/state law or rights of others.
• Upload malware, spam, or attempt unauthorized access.
• Use the Site to provide regulated advice (financial, legal, medical) without licensure.
• Collect emails or personal data of others.
• Interfere with ads or analytics measurement.

4. Intellectual Property & Data Attribution

The Site's design, code, charts, text and compilation are © 2026 LifeIndex. Government datasets remain in the public domain per 17 U.S.C. §105, but our collection, normalization, ranking and visualization are original.

• Trademarks "LifeIndex" and logo may not be used without written permission.
• If you believe content infringes, see DMCA below.
• API consumers must cache and attribute; live hotlinking to our JSON endpoints without permission is not allowed.

5. Accuracy & Updates

Data is aggregated from authoritative federal APIs and cached. We use automated collectors (see About for source table) with frequencies from twice-yearly (CFPB TCCP) to daily. Data vintage is shown per page (e.g., "Census ACS 2023," "HUD FMR 2025"). We correct errors promptly via contact but give no warranty of timeliness or completeness. 6. Advertising & Third Parties

• We display Google AdSense ads. Ads are governed by Google's policies; clicking is at your risk. We do not endorse advertisers.
• Links to government sources (census.gov, bls.gov, huduser.gov, fred.stlouisfed.org, eia.gov) are for reference; we are not responsible for external content.
• Affiliate or lead programs (if added) will be clearly disclosed per FTC Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255).

7. Copyright Complaints — DMCA (17 U.S.C. §512)

We respect intellectual property. To file a DMCA takedown:

1. Identify the copyrighted work and the infringing URL on our Site.
2. Provide your contact, a good-faith statement, and an accuracy statement under penalty of perjury, with physical/electronic signature.
3. Send to dmca@lifeindexdata.com with subject "DMCA Notice" or via contact form.
4. Counter-notices may be filed per §512(f); repeat infringers are terminated.

8. Disclaimers

THE SITE AND DATA ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT AND ACCURACY. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, nor that defects will be corrected. 9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by U.S. law, LifeIndex, its owners, contributors and hosting providers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive or exemplary damages, or loss of profits/revenue/data, arising from your use or inability to use the Site, even if advised of possibility. Direct damages are capped at the greater of $100 or amounts you paid us (we charge none). Some states do not allow certain limitations; rights vary by state.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LifeIndex from claims, damages, liabilities, costs and attorneys' fees arising from your violation of these Terms, your content, or your misuse of data.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access, block IPs, or remove content for violations, security, or legal reasons, without notice. You may stop using the Site at any time. Sections 4, 8–12 survive termination.

12. Governing Law & Disputes

• These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Delaware (without conflicts principles), where many U.S. web services are domiciled. If you access from another state, local consumer rights still apply.
• Informal resolution first: Contact us at support@lifeindexdata.com for 30 days before filing claims.
• Arbitration: Unresolved disputes shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by AAA under its Consumer Rules, in English, by a single arbitrator, location: Delaware or via videoconference. You and we waive class actions and jury trial, to the extent permitted.
• Small-claims courts remain available. Injunctive relief may be sought in any competent court.
• U.S. export controls and sanctions apply.

13. Changes to Terms

We may modify Terms for legal/technical/business reasons. Material changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated"; continued use after posting constitutes acceptance. If you disagree, discontinue use. Previous versions available on request.
