Cookie Policy
Last updated: September 08, 2026 — Effective: September 08, 2026
1. What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. We also use functionally similar technologies (local storage, pixels) where noted. They help the Site work securely, remember basic preferences, measure aggregate usage and serve advertising. They do not give us access to your files or personal documents.
2. Cookies We Use
| Category | Example names | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly Necessary | PHPSESSID, security / load-balancer cookies | Keep the Site working, prevent abuse, balance traffic. No consent required. |
| Analytics | _ga, _gid (Google Analytics 4) | Count visits, see which pages are popular, measure session length — in aggregate only. |
| Advertising | _gads, IDE, DSID (Google AdSense) | Deliver ads, limit how often you see the same ad, detect fraud and — where you consent — personalize ads. |
We do not use social-media tracking pixels of our own and do not set cookies for cross-site profiling ourselves — any such use comes from Google services described below and only with your consent where required.
3. Third-Party Cookies (Google)
- Google Analytics 4: IP anonymization is enabled; data is aggregated (pages, duration, device type) and retained up to 14 months. Governed by Google Privacy Policy. Opt out: GA Opt-out.
- Google AdSense: Google and its partners may set cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this and other sites. Manage it: Google Ad Settings. How Google uses ad data: google.com/technologies/ads.
- We do not control Google’s cookies — see Google Cookie Policy.
4. Purpose & Legal Basis
- Necessary: legitimate interest in a secure, working Site.
- Analytics / advertising: your consent where required (e.g., EEA/UK cookie banner), otherwise legitimate interest in measuring and funding a free Site. You may withdraw consent anytime via browser settings or the links in section 6.
5. Duration & Retention
- Session/security cookies: deleted when you close the browser.
- Analytics cookies (_ga, _gid): up to 14 months.
- Advertising cookies (_gads, IDE, DSID): per Google’s retention (typically up to 24 months).
6. How to Control Cookies
- Browser: block or delete cookies in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge settings (usually Settings → Privacy → Cookies). Blocking may break some features such as saved preferences.
- Google-specific: Ad Settings (personalized ads off), Analytics opt-out, YourOnlineChoices.
- Mobile: use device ad settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy → Tracking; Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads) to limit ad tracking.
7. Do Not Sell, GPC & Your Rights
We do not sell personal information. If you enable Global Privacy Control (GPC) (Brave, Firefox, DuckDuckGo), we treat it as an opt-out of sale/sharing for cross-context advertising. California (CCPA/CPRA), Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut and Utah residents have rights to know, delete, correct and opt out — exercise them via privacy@lifeindexdata.com or our contact form (“CCPA Request”). We respond within 45 days. Full details: Privacy Policy §9.
8. Changes
We may update this Policy when we add or remove cookies or when the law changes. Material changes will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date and, where required, we will ask for consent again. Continued use after changes means acceptance.
9. Contact
Cookie questions: privacy@lifeindexdata.com or contact form. Legal: legal@lifeindexdata.com. Related: Privacy Policy · Terms · Disclaimer.
This Policy supplements our Privacy Policy and does not create rights beyond applicable law. English version controls.
